If your computer allows you to e-mail, access websites with multimedia contents and participate in a typical webforum, nothing stands in the way of instant participation.
A modern multimedia computer, a recent version of your preferred internet browser, and a fast internet connection ensure that you can make good use of all the course features.
Where can I participate?
Your active participation can be done on any internet-enabled Windows, Mac or Linux computer via its standard internet browser from your home, an internet cafe or any institutional library.
Time and commitment
As in any educational environment, the rewards for your participation in this course will be commensurate with your personal involvement.
Do you enjoy learning together with others, anywhere in the world? (*) If so, consider setting aside a minimum of 6 hours per week or 72 hours over the entire course period for active participation. How you distribute this is left to you, but consider that participation is bound to be most enjoyable if it is regular rather than squeezed into a brief period of time. And the more you get immersed in the subjects covered the more you'll enjoy discovering new facets, listening to Carnatic music, and interacting with others.
Course work
Your course work will include a variety of activities including listening to music, watching videos, reading text assignments, taking notes in your private online journal, sharing your ideas or doubts in the course forums, and participating in quizzes for self-evaluation. Private course forums allow you to interact with your tutor and fellow students.
Extension of course participation
You are welcome to extend your participation unconditionally and without assigning any reason if you cannot complete all the assignments you are interested in within the stipulated period. Simply re-enroll after informing your tutor.
(*) Conversely, if you find activities listed above burdensome or if you are always ready to be distracted by other computer related tasks such as e-mail and private chats, this course may not suit your temperament.
