During the summer the online course will be revised before becoming available again in fall-winter 2007-8.

The Music of South India is taught in English. This e-learning course covers the salient features of the classical music of southern India - known as 'Karnataka Sangitam' in India, and Carnatic (Karnatic) music in the English speaking world. It serves the needs of musicians, teachers and students. For this reason, it is designed to facilitate interaction among participants, course tutor and experts.

In order to make it accessible to music lovers and students all over the world, it is kept highly affordable. Contributions (fees and voluntary contributions) make it possible to run the course on a not-for-profit basis without compromise in quality including first class server hosting services.

Young and senior participants from all over the world, both non-Indians and persons of Indian origin - musicians, teachers, students, music loving professionals and scholars in various fields - have participated in this course. Their enthusiastic participation, encouraging responses, recommendations and frequent inquiries for new opportunities to enroll are among the reasons that this course has always been developed further in an innovative manner since its inception.
