sharing the experience worldwide

The Music of South India is offered twice a year and constantly updated for the benefit of all participants, old and new. A special student rate for participants enrolled at institutions and cultural organisations anywhere in the world.

All new participants receive an authoritative, convenient to use text and reference book: The Oxford Illustrated Companion to South Indian Classical Music (2nd revised edition, 2009).

Special and compact courses are offered in conjunction with academic and cultural institutions. They can either be hosted within the present course format or adapted in a manner that suits the syllabus requirements of a particular institution (e.g. university music department, world music school or high school music courses with focus on India).

About the photo: Sreevidhya Chandramouli annually celebrates Vidyarambam in the American North-West (Oregon and Washington) as Indian cultural institutions do all over the world. It is the most auspicious way to begin a new music or dance lesson on Vijayadasami day and also a good occasion to share one's delight in the living traditions of South India with others. For all participants in the e-learning course, especially those who are not in a position to meet a music teacher or fellow learners in person to celebrate Vidyarambam, Sreevidhya Chandramouli has recorded a first vocal lesson. This song, a gitam wherein the spirit and feeling of Carnatic music can be experienced in full measure, is meant to be followed and repeated just as in a regular lesson.
